Happy Easter

Happy Easter to all Room 3 students and their families.  I hope you all have a well deserved break. I was very proud of Room 3 at our school Easter liturgy ... well done for re-enacting the Last Supper so well.

Sumner beach

Great to have my laptop back after repairing, to resume our class blog!

Yesterday we had a very successful trip to Sumner beach where Jason, from the Christchurch City Council, talked to us about the sand dunes, a natural barrier to the destructive forces of winds and waves.   Jason was very passionate about his subject and gave us lots of reasons to protect the sand dunes.  He challenged us to create our own sand dunes using the information he gave us.    Each group explained why they created their sand dune the way they did.

Huge thanks to our parents and grandparent for being with us ... it would not have been possible to go without you ... Victoria's mum, Hamish's dad, Clara's grandmother visiting from the Philippines and Louisa's Dad.

The brain

Well done Victoria for connecting our brain learning (parts of the brain) to a Maths activity today!   Spot the skull, the frontal lobe,  temporal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, the cerebellum and the brain stem.  Ask us what each part of the brain does!  We are thoroughly enjoying exploring our amazing brain and participating in the fun activities.  Today we did a 30 second memory test. We learnt that the memory is located in the temporal lobe in the hippocampus.  The hippocampus is shaped like a seahorse.
