A cool day!

Thank you to Chole from the Heart Foundation....great information about the food pyramid...foods we should eat the most, eat some of the time, and foods we should eat the least!

Happy, happy birthday to Darragh, 8 on Wednesday 25 September....huge thanks to Angela, Darragh's mum for sharing Darragh's birthday cake with us all!!  Very, very nice!!  Lovely to have Aisling, Darragh's big sister join us .... Miss Duncan scored a piece too!! So did Mr Clark!!

..... and weren't we lucky to have Ariana share her amazing expressive reading talent with us as she made the story 'Who's afraid of the Big Bad Book?' a pop-up classic by Lauren Child, come alive for us!

Awesome reading!

Great reading results reflect the reading reinforced at home ..... special congratulations to Darragh and Anne for 125 nights reading!!!  A fantastic 'well done' to Erika for 100 nights and to Ferlyn, Tanaki, Thomas and Shayden our 75 ers!!

We will continue reading 'running records' the last week of term. Room 3 will be encouraged to read their own personal book at home during this week ... just enter it in the home reading journal.

I have been chosen along with other experienced DRS's to help with formulating appropriate assessments for the R.E. programme on Wednesday and Thursday of the last week of term but will make a special trip back to participate in the Mass I have organised when St Peter's  join us for the day on Thursday. This is a gesture of goodwill with St Peter's because of the 2 parishes merging together in the near future.

Teachers and students alike are all looking forward to enjoying the Spring holidays soon to be upon us!!

He and his family  travelled to Fiji to  join in the celebrations for  his aunty's wedding.... he even performed a special dance in front of the whole wedding party!  We were all very interested and excited for him.

Duffy books!

Yay it's Duffy Book day - weren't  we lucky to receive 2 books that we selected and which were presented to us  at a special Duffy assembly this afternoon.

Jacqui Knight from Auckland was our Duffy presenter. She is a freelance writer, desktop publisher and the persona of 'Madam Butterfly' when she visits school to talk about butterflies.

Thank you Jacqui!

Financial Literacy

Michelle from ASB gave us a Maths lesson with a difference today. It tied in really well with our Measurement strand.....all about money and how to use it!!

We learnt about 3 different ways to shop when looking for a scooter, a helmet and a bell! We learnt that we should go to different shops to work out the best price for everything, then we enjoyed participating in the 'Shop Around' song!

Afa...congratulations on100 nights of reading....awesome!!!
